IVR at SLU is a diverse team of physicians, technologists and RNs, who work together to expedite the most advanced practices in IVR. This department and its team are dedicated to being on the leading edge of IR procedures while providing superior care to our patients. We are frequently one of only a few IR departments in the country, who are using/performing new techniques, equipment and procedures. Due to the complexity of some of our cases and the acuity of our patients, being a part of our team, you will become highly adaptable, proficient, and skilled in Interventional Radiology. Some of the procedures done in IR are Pulmonary embolism, angiovac, ablations, Y 90, Angiograms, Paracentesis, stroke, cerebral aneurysm, vascular studies, Nephrology procedures, line placements, thrombolytics, hemo-dynamic monitoring, kyphoplasty, biopsies, drains, shockwave lithotripsy.

Job Summary:
The Cardiology Tech in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory performs tasks that provide technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures while also providing basic patient care to all types of patients under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse. Cardiology Tech assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the department.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
Circulate and scrub complex IR/neuro procedures.
Support OR Vascular surgerycases as needed.
Responsible for billing/coding of procedures performed.
Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Call is required with 30 minute response time.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:Associate's degree or Radiology Certification Program
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:No experience required but 2 years experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Constant standing and walking.
Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
Frequent wearing of lead vest during procedures.
Frequent reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry.
Must possess fine motor skills to manipulate and maneuver equipment.
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
Rare kneeling and sitting.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor - American Heart Association (AHA)
VI certification preferred, but not required
