Summary of the Position
Responsible for setting up and operating assigned CNC equipment to produce quality parts in accordance with blueprints, procedural specifications, quality, and productivity standards. Maintains quality of machined parts by performing quality set-ups and checks, and by completing required documentation. Position requires a high regard for safety and ISO at all times.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Follow Safety Regulations
Works safely and supports safety within their team across the organization – as required.
Participates in safety training and demonstrates a high regard for safety at all times.
Wears Personal Protection Equipment as required by safety regulations.
Perform Machine Set-Up
Obtains and checks proper documentation and tooling. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications, to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts, sequences or operations, and set-up requirements.
Sets up assigned equipment by installing proper tools and program on machine disk drive, and by making necessary adjustments. Performs set-up changes or set-up modifications as necessary.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines.
Assures QC First Piece Inspection takes place.
Perform Machining Operations
Operates assigned machines to produce quality parts without assistance or supervision. Pulls orders and performs computer clock-in on each order.
Calculates and sets controls to regular machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
Starts, operates and monitors assigned equipment to produce quality parts and detect possible malfunctions. If out-of-tolerance machining is observed, adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished parts to specifications by performing in-process inspections.
Makes sure equipment is in good, safe operating condition by performing preventive maintenance.
Transports machined parts to next operation. Operates material handling equipment as needed.
Maintain Quality
Continuously checks tooling and machining operations to assure both are performing correctly and producing parts to standards.
Makes any necessary change of tooling or needed set-up modification.
Performs in-process inspections per Quality and Machine Shop work procedures.
Complete Documentation
Completes the following forms/reports as required by department procedures:
- Shop Order paperwork
- Quality inspection documentation
- Daily 6S Check Sheet
- Patrol Inspection Log
- Time and Labor card
- Operator Preventive Maintenance Checklist
- Fabrication Work Report
- DCR Form
Support Department and Company Initiatives
Works on cost savings projects and Six Sigma projects and provides support for other team members and projects.
Attends team meetings. Utilizes lean tools such as 6S and visual factory concepts in maintaining order and cleanliness.
Performs additional tasks to support production as needed or directed by supervisor or management.
Education and/or Experience
Required – Machining/Set-Up knowledge. 2 years of related work experience and High school diploma or GED OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be computer literate.
Preferred – Associate Degree in Technical Studies.
