Job Description:
Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Clinical Microbiology Lab is currently seeking an experienced Clinical Lab Technician who will be responsible for all laboratory operations.

Our state-of-the-art clinical laboratories provide sophisticated technology and automated equipment that allow our teams to get to answers faster and more efficiently, with a strong emphasis on applied and translational research. We are committed to the growth and advancement of the department, and fully support the active collaboration of scientists, clinicians and industry experts to develop next-generation laboratory methods. MSK is also dedicated to providing diverse educational opportunities to further develop the skills and ambitions of our medical technologists and technicians, laboratory managers, and laboratory directors. Our experts also play a vital role in clinical research through contributions we make to the development of new laboratory tests and diagnostic platforms.
Role Overview:
- Process patient samples for analysis and culture. This includes reviewing appropriateness of requests, accessioning, aliquotting, centrifugation, and shipping preparation for specimens sent to a reference laboratory.
- Perform pre-analytical steps related to the initial set-up and plating of microbiology specimens and stain preparation.
- Perform standard laboratory procedures requiring the limited exercise of independent judgment and interpretation.
- Work under direct supervision of clinical laboratory technologist, laboratory Supervisor or manager of a clinical laboratory.
Key Qualifications:
- An Associate degree (or higher) from a certified clinical laboratory technician program registered by the NYSED.gov as licensure qualifying (or a program in certified clinical laboratory technician or a related title that is determined by the NYSED.gov to be the substantial equivalent of a registered program in certified clinical laboratory technician)
- New York State Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician required
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting strongly preferred
