Role Summary:
The Instrument Technician is responsible to ensure Flowserve products and equipment are inspected, manufactured, assembled, calibrated, and tested according to Flowserve procedures and certifying agency requirements. The Instrument Technician will inspect parts that are made in house and from outside suppliers. The Instrument Technician will measure and verify that parts are made to the engineered drawing. The Instrument Technician will review Material Test Reports against ASTM standards. The Instrument Technician will also perform Liquid Penetrant testing and PMI verification.
Responsibilities
- Inspect parts that are made in house and from outside suppliers and ensure they comply with quality standards.
- Verify supplier Material Test reports against ASTM standards.
- Operate PMI and Spectrometer Analyzer for metal analysis and verification.
- Perform Liquid Penetrant testing.
- Assist sales with customer inspectors on PMI and dimensions of valve parts.
- Create NCR’s to communicate non-conforming product issues to the responsible people.
- Work with customer inspectors and internal and external auditors.
- Cover and assist with other inspection areas.
- Follow all safety procedures and policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret assembly drawings and part drawings.
- Basic knowledge of GD&T.
- Ability to use measuring and inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and basic computer skills.
- 3 - 5+ years machining and or inspection experience, preferred.
- ANST NDT Level I (PT), preferred.
- Dexterity to use hand tools, ability to see and read fine prints and markings, and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Good oral and written communication.
