Salary range: $42.00-$68.00 per hour based on experience. , The grade and salary of the position are based on specific criteria met within the qualifications as well as the specialty area, relevant experience, skills, performance and internal equity. This position is eligible for shift differentials.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
WOCN / Outpatient Surgical Services
Shift: Full-time 8am-4:30pm
Location: The Emory Clinic, 1365 Clifton Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30322
- Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
- Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
- Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
- Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.
- Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
- Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education.
- Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
- Two years of recent (within the past five years) Registered Nursing experience.
- Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
- Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.
- Certification in Continence Care is preferred.
- Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care is not required, but preferred.
- BLS required. ACLS may be required on some units.
