Flatiron Construction is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to support the California High Speed Rail Project. In this role, you will support project controls program and activities, including prime contract management, scheduling, and cost control and contract change management.
- Reviews and analyzes contract management records to provide technical advice or project control guidance.
- Assists with cost controls reporting and reconciliation of project cost reporting for one District or Mega Project and provides District or Project reporting to Project Controls Director for Division level reports.
- Assists scheduling process and support for District or Mega Project, including bid phase and project schedule creation, monthly reporting and schedule update,
- Assists with integration of Company systems to track, monitor and control costs or schedule. Ensures accurate training and utilization of approved systems for project document control and reporting.
- Performs regular project reviews and monitors the job cost report against key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
- Coordinates with Division Claims/Contract Manager in tracking and monitoring change order and claims preparation and resolution
- Tracks activities around unsecured revenue and project contingencies.
- Tracks of over/under billing to monitor and control project cash flow.
- Assists with resource and cost loading to the schedule, including labor projections, equipment and material projections, and productivity trend reporting to accurately forecast project costs and project financial outcome.
- Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
- 3+ years’ experience in construction engineering, project management or project controls required.
- Experience with complex scheduling and cost control processes required.
- Knowledge of construction contract agreements and change order processes required.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, including construction accounting, required.
- Able to identify cost reduction strategies in schedule, quantities or contract specifications that align with project budget and design specification requirements.
