ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following list represents the primary responsibilities of a Mine Paramedic. The relative importance of these responsibilities may vary from region to region and should be discussed by each Paramedic with his/her supervisor.
Medical Duties:
- Evaluates,treats,andstabilizesroutine andurgent patients withinthescopeofpractice and standing orders established by the sponsoring physician (Paramedic), with expanded scope responsibilities

- Administeringflushotsandmaintainproperdocumentation
- RestockingofFirstAidBags
- Restock Stoke Baskets
- RestockFirst-AidKits
- Assesseachcallsituationtodeterminebestcourseofactionandappropriateprotocol.
- Utilize medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
- Developandutilizetriageskills toprovideoptimal efficiencyduringcalls.
- Providepatientcareaccordingtoclinicalprotocolsand safetyrequirements.
- Liftandmovepatientsasrequiredtoprovideoptimumcare.
- Actasteamleaderandtakeresponsibilityforscenemanagement as needed.
- Monitorandmaintain thegeneral condition of the work area, keep it clean and stocked to maintain the image of Guardian Flight and GMR.
- Muststaycurrentwithadvancedtraining,instructorcredentials,andcontinuing education.
- MustsuccessfullycompleteandremaincurrentwithMSHArequiredcourses,participate in mine rescue drills; and must maintain all mine safety policies and complete all safety training.
- Abilitytofunctionindependentlyandbeaself-starterinisolatedlocations that have poor communication and no support agencies.
- Abilityto climb a 75-foot vertical ladder with 50 lbs. of gear
- MUST be able to work undergroundin a hotand humid environment.
- All otherdutiesassigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Highschooldiplomaorequivalent(GED).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- PossessavalidDriver'sLicense.
- CurrentState ofNevadaParamedicCertification.
- DrivingrecordincompliancewithGMRpolicyregardinginsurability.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Paramedic, with the ability to function beyond the typical "street environment," where treatment may be the priority, not transport.
- Effectiveoral,writtenandinterpersonalcommunicationskills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently and as a team member, employ discretion and confidentiality in sensitive areas, read, interpret, and follow instructions.
- Available to work extended shifts at remote mine sites.
