We are presently seeking a flexible, dynamic, professional for employment to serve as a Receptionist for a Minneapolis alternative high school. The primary role of this person will be to manage the front desk and assist administrators and staff in working with families of enrolled students.
We are in need of an organized individual who can work with diverse populations, create a welcoming and supportive environment and manage a wide range of tasks in support of a fast-paced educational environment.
The ideal candidate will be able to offer translation and interpretation in Somali and/or Spanish.

Required Qualifications:
• Value and practice cultural sensitivity and student advocacy
• Speak Somali and English fluently and provide interpretation and translation services
• Remain a calm presence at high student traffic times
• Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility
• Possess computer skills and demonstrate proficiency with data entry
• Demonstrate an attention to details and timelines
• Be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
About Us:
Volunteers of America-MN is dedicated to helping people in need. Our education program, located in Minneapolis, provides high school diplomas through unique rigorous academic programming and individualized counseling to students and young adults of the Minneapolis Public Schools. VOA High School is an innovative high school program serving at-risk high school students (grades 10-12). Students at VOA HS are immersed in hands on learning and have multiple pathways to reach their goal of diploma. The program also provides increased access to social workers and contains an internal Independent Study Program to meet the needs of students with children, jobs, or other obstacles preventing daily school attendance.
