We are seeking an energetic and well-organized manager of sales & events to maximize property revenue and oversee event operations to ensure our customers receive a first-class banquet experience. As a director of sales & events, you will liaise with the general manager to meet revenue expectations. Your duties will include top line revenue generation, qualifying, negotiating, and closing ... business for the property, client support, and site visits.
To be successful as a manager of sales & events, you should exhibit extensive experience in managing sales, hotels, banquets and delivering services within budget. Outstanding directors of sales and events ensure balance between profitability and operational execution results in a level of service that exceeds expectations.
Manager of Sales & Events Responsibilities:
• Manage property level Sales and Events staff (including Guest Service Representatives ’FD’, Banquet Manager, Event Staff, and/or Sales Administrative Associates) by ensuring staff understand employment practices, recommending employment decisions and corrective action, supporting performance management, and implementing discipline in accordance with Normandy's Core Values.
• Generate new group leads through proactive solicitation using resources such as the internet, 3rd party vendors, brand resources, Property Sales System, etc..
• Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
• Aggressively pursuing all appropriate business opportunities within designated Director, Sales & Events assigned accounts or segments including responding to leads, customer solicitation, and relationship building. Achieving individual and team productivity goals.
• Planning and executing client site visits, on-site client negotiations and meetings, and pre- and post-con meetings.
• Functioning as a key leader of the Revenue Strategy Team along with the Owner, General Manager and Best Western Property Revenue Management , helping to develop the pricing, and marketing strategies.
• Functioning as the liaison between the property and the Enterprise Sales Organization, communicating strategies and hotel information, and countersigning all sales contracts.
• Actively engaging in the local community as it benefits the hotel, via approved memberships in organizations, charitable activities, and business community events.
• Responsible for all marketing, ensuring the content and appearance is current, accurate, and optimally represents the hotel. Marketing includes all print and digital marketing, catering menus, social media posts, online reviews, and all content (text, images and videos) on brand and third-party websites.
• Responsible for maintaining property operation standards and appearance including overseeing Guest Relations ‘FD’ protocols, housekeeping, events and F&B standards to ensure contractual obligations.
• Providing financial leadership of the sales function to include forecast Group and Catering Revenue, participating in annual budget process, preparing for and participating in financial reviews as well as developing and updating the property Strategic Selling Guidelines.
• Conducting and/or participating in the required company standard meetings, including but not limited to daily Operations stand up Meeting, Business Review Meeting, Marketing Meeting Revenue Strategy Meeting, BEO Meeting, Budget Meetings, and weekly Management Meeting.
• Any and all other work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position or support hotel.

• A strong working knowledge or experience with Group, Negotiated Transient and Social Event segments. (Required)

• Familiarity with web design. (Preferred)

• Demonstrated experience with industry specific programs including Microsoft Office, Canva, STAR, STS Cloud: particularly in detailing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and creating contracts. (Required)
BSc degree in Marketing/Sales/Events or relevant field. (Preferred)
