Role Summary
The General Laborer role varies from working on new construction, to renovations, and across a variety of project types. General laborers perform physical labor and are essential to our company and self-perform efforts. General laborers utilize a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
The following role responsibilities are not all encompassing as specific work tasks, project types, and build phases drastically vary. This is a broad representation of the type of tasks and requirements required of General Laborers at JE Dunn. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
GENERAL LABOR FAMILY - CORE
• Tending – Assists other skilled trades/crafts, including masons, plasterers, carpenters, ironworkers and others as assigned. Duties may include loading, unloading, handling and distributing materials, fixtures and others as assigned. This may include mixing, handling and conveying of all materials used by plasterers, carpenters and other building and construction crafts, whether done by hand or other process. This will include the drying of plastering when done by salamander heat or any other drying process, including the cleaning and transporting to next point of erection or placement and clearing of all debris.
• Concrete – Responsible for placement of all concrete for walls, foundations, floors or for any other construction; mixing, handling, conveying, pouring, vibrating, gunniting and otherwise applying concrete whether done by hand or any other process, and wrecking, stripping, dismantling, cleaning, and handling concrete forms and falsework; building of centers for fireproofing purposes.
• Scaffolds - Builds scaffolding and staging for masons and plasterers.
• General excavations, foundations & grading – Responsible for excavation for building, digging of trenches, piers, foundations and holes, digging lagging, sheeting, cribbing, bracing and propping of foundations, holes, caissons, cutting, lagging, shoring, operation of all hand tools, pneumatic, electric, motor, combustion or air driven tools or equipment necessary for the performance of work described herein, including but not limited to; gas and electric powered chain saws, vibratory tampers, hand powered rollers, jack hammers, etc.
• Underpinning & shoring – Responsible for clearing, excavating, filling, backfilling, grading and landscaping of all sites.
• Drilling/Blasting – Responsible for all work of drill running, chuck tending, jackhammering and blasting.

Education
• High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
• Apprentice and/or Vocational/Technical/Trade training (Preferred)
• In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
• 0-2 years commercial construction experience (Preferred).
Working Environment
• Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds
• May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be comfortable working at projected heights, narrow workspaces, various depths (trenches)
• Frequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Kneeling, Carrying, Swinging, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Balancing
• Occasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
