The Forklift Operator lead is responsible for directing the team that will safely operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials, vessels, tanks and move them to and from storage areas, loading areas, onto trucks and storage facilities ... Responsibilities and Duties
• Obtains copy of manufacturing order, picklist or shipping order and transports materials and/or finished goods to and from designated areas in the facility.
• Assure that raw materials are organized and accessible at all times.
• Assure that finished goods are organized and accessible at all times.
• Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks, vans, flatbeds, trailers.
• Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the warehouse and plant facilities.
• Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions.
• Assure that preventative maintenance schedule is followed for forklifts.
• Checking loads are secure and safe for transport.
• Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery and lubricating equipment.
• Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines
• Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
• Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers
• Operate and maintain preventively warehouse vehicles and equipment
• Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
• Report any inventory discrepancies
• Maintain a clean & safe environment.
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Previous experience as a forklift operator on 30,000 to 50,000 lb. capacity units.
• Previous experience moving plate steel, structural steel and large finished goods products.
• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment.
• Ability to follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records.
• Ability to execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner.
• Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license may be required
• Forklift certification per OSHA standards
• Effective problem- solving skills.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to lift heavy objects.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required.
Compensation: $18-$21/hr
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk;
Sit; use hands to finger, handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds waist high.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus having good eye-hand coordination. Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck. Having a good sense of balance. Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights. Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on season
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to seasonal temperatures, dirt and dust. The noise level in the work environment will required hearing protection when in the manufacturing shops
