GBFB is considered an essential response organization in times of disaster. As such, Team Members are expected to report to GBFB locations as required, after securing the safety of their families, and may be asked to perform duties that are critical (but outside of their regularly assigned duties) in times of disaster.
Job Title: WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE I
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Reports to: Assistant Warehouse Manager
Position Summary
GBFB Warehouse Associate I is responsible for safely and accurately selecting and performing material handling functions throughout the warehouse. There is extensive personal contact with GBFB Team Members, volunteers, and external organization representatives. Each Associate is fully responsible for safety, cleanliness, inventory accuracy, and regulatory compliance in our facility.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Safely and efficiently unloading, accurately counting, sorting, moving, selecting, and loading materials.
• Neat, timely, and accurate completion of all appropriate transaction and documentation in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Actively looking for inventory and working with the Warehouse Management team, to make sure that our soonest expiring material is used first (FEFO – First Expiring, First Out), so food is not wasted.
• Select and complete orders with voice directed WMS.
• Using and inspecting assigned pallet rider and related equipment according to GBFB policy.
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment by managing trash, washing, vacuuming, sweeping, or other cleaning processes.
• Making positive suggestions to improve our business process.
• Ensure AIB standards are maintained.
• Be able to work in different areas of the warehouse including cooler and freezer.
• Meet all training deadlines and requirements as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate and interact well with people.
• Willingness to learn new skills at GBFB.
• Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (e-mail).
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Ability to be cross trained in different departments.
• Strong math skills, being able to add, subtract, multiply and divide while working with percentages and numbers with decimals.
• Excellent Customer Service.
• Ability to be proactive and problem solve.
Mandatory Education and Experience
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of direct related warehouse experience.
• Basic knowledge of, and some experience in, standard warehousing practices and procedures.
• Pallet jack experience and ability to become GBFB-certified on pallet rider.
• Being able to work overtime when asked, sometimes on short notice, and responding to "mandatory" overtime requirements when needed.
• Ability to be certified by GBFB's Food Safety program.
• Inventory experience or willing to learn.
• Demonstrates the ability on all machinery and warehouse functions.
• Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.

Physical Demands
• Ability to safely operate electrical pallet jacks.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend up to 8 hours per day.
• Working with hand and powered equipment at heights up to 30' or more above the floor.
• Loading and unloading trailers of freight.
• Lifting inventory throughout the day, with inventory weighing up to 50 pounds continuously and 100 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.
Work Environment
• Work is performed indoors inside the warehouse in ambient, cooler, and freezer temperatures for extended periods of time.
• Noises typical in warehouse environment to include horns, backing alarms as well as flashing lights.
• Fast paced environment throughout the day
