Position Summary:
Primarily performs pick-up and delivery functions (LOCAL DELIVERIES ONLY) throughout various Johns Hopkins Hospital/Health System locations and local surrounding areas. These functions include using a 15ft box truck for bulk mail pick-up and delivery, supply delivery, clean/soiled linen pick-up and delivery, package pick-up and delivery, food delivery, pallet loading/sorting, and other functions requiring a small to medium-sized truck. A liftgate is used to move items to move items to the ground. Equipment such as pallet jacks are then used to transport the goods. May assist with deliveries within the hospital building as necessary if need be. This position may also perform various other duties as needed to aid the receiving operation including but not limited to assisting with the functions of receiving clerks, supply coordinators, and/or customer service representatives.
Minimum Requirements:
• Valid high school diploma or GED (WILL BE VERIFIED PRIOR TO HIRE)
• Six to twelve months of prior warehouse, small truck driving, or related areas required. Experience in a health care environment preferred
• Valid MD Class C Drivers License (standard drivers license) with no driving violations
Skills and Knowledge:
• Knowledge of vehicle operations, proper loading and unloading of trucks, safety and highway regulations, receiving and inventory procedures, and supply handling equipment
• Safely operate pallet jacks, flatbed trucks, supply carts, elevators, and conveyor belts
• Read and comprehend requests for supplies
• Drive standard and automatic transmissions
• Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and customers
• Ability to use computers and communication equipment such as two-way radios
