The Catering Events Assistant helps to bring our client’s visions for their special event to life. You will work directly with the client, his/her vendors, the event site, and our banquet captain in order to plan the client’s special event. You must have a passion to serve and derive joy from transforming empty spaces into beautiful event settings. You will often juggle more than one client so ... you must thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a sharp eye for detail, and have a passion for getting things done right the first time. You must have a unique combination of strong people skills and strong office skills. You must also be a highly motivated, individualist personality type that enjoys working in a fun and challenging environment, and smoothly handling difficult or unexpected situations.
• Understanding client's needs and specifications through client meetings
• Conducting site visits at off-premise reception venues and clients’ homes
• Conducting table design consultations based on client’s inspiration
• Creating banquet event orders and diagrams
• Interacting effectively with wedding planners to fine-tune event details in order to create a satisfactory guest experience
• Interacting effectively with all in-house departments and outside vendors in order to create a satisfactory guest experience
• Assisting the Director of Sales and the department with projects and research when necessary
Job Requirements:
• Previous event design or coordinating in the hotel, off-premise catering, or event company
• Basic clerical skills to include: 40+ wpm typing, ability to create and format business letters, memorandums, and reports
• Must be proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• Excellent communication skills
• Interest in design & color is a plus
• Ability to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Must be able to work well under stressful situations
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays
• Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle
