About The Role
As a Mechatronic Junior Technicians (MJT), you will work to combine electronic, mechanical, computer and control skills at the workplace. You will work with complex high-performance manufacturing systems and are able to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair systems to maintain process efficiency. The focus of this role is to ensure safety regulations and policies are adhered to, assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the automated packaging and distribution equipment, ensure preventative maintenance is conducted on time to a high standard, and provide high levels of equipment availability through continuous improvement.
Amazon Mechatronic Junior Technicians are engaged in the assembly and maintenance of complex machines, plants, and systems in the Reliability & Maintenance Engineering sector or in organizations which purchase and operate such mechatronic systems. Technicians carry out their work at various facilities, including high automation and robotics facilities in connection with service operations. They are expected to work autonomously on the basis of technical documents and instructions and carry out their work in compliance with the relevant provisions and safety regulations.
The ideal candidate should be an effective communicator, work well in a team, and be self-motivated. They should have the ability to work collaboratively and coordinate their activities with upstream and downstream operations partners. In addition to developing your skills, you will mentor junior technicians to grow in their roles.

Key job responsibilities
• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance of conveyance equipment using the appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals
• Maintain and repair distribution center racking
• Complete preventative maintenance routines, documentation, and procedures
• Track and store department inventory, including spare parts
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization
• Conduct maintenance and basic troubleshooting of robotics and robotic work cells
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all material handling equipment components
• Maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachs, etc.
• Assist in mentoring junior technicians by providing guidance and directions to help them develop their skill set
• Assist with basic electronics/Programmable Logic Controllers troubleshooting
• Physical Demands (must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation):
• Lift and move items up to 49 pounds each with or without reasonable accommodations
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head
• Occasionally handle wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during site visits
• Climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation
• Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation).
• Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
• Walk in the facility and around areas with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
• Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces
• Work flexible schedules/shifts/areas, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent diploma
• Experience working with electrical and mechanical conveyance systems
• 1 year of experience in PC competency to include: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Attained Mechatronics Industry Certifications (PMMI) – Industrial Electricity 1, Mechanical Components 1, Fluid Power and PLCs 1
• Graduate of the Amazon RME’s Mechatronics & Robotics Apprenticeship Program
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous documented skilled work in a trades capacity
• Skilled at troubleshooting advanced electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and PLCs 1
• Skilled in SCADA systems such as Ignition, Factory Talk View, WCS/WMS type systems
• Skilled in PLC Languages such as Allen Bradley & Siemens Certified
• Effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Experience reading and deciphering wiring diagrams, mechanical, and fluid power schematics and troubleshooting from schematics and manual to board level
• Experience running equipment using internal or 3rd party software, able to decipher logs and troubleshoot equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• History of teamwork and ability to work successfully with limited supervision

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $32,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $79,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
