Friends Select School is looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual to join our community as the Receptionist and Safety Monitor. As the first person to greet visitors, families, and employees, this individual will play a critical role in not only keeping our community safe but ensuring a welcoming environment that aligns with the school’s Quaker values.
This is a part-time, ten-month ... position, with the possibility of additional hours on a modified schedule during the summer months. During the school year, regular hours are 7:15am-12:45pm. The Receptionist and Safety Monitor reports to the Director of Operations.
The position will:
• Welcome visitors and community members warmly and support them as needed
• Serve as a safety checkpoint, monitoring their assigned building entrances and surveillance camera feeds
• Support students with sign-in and sign-out protocols
• Run the visitor screening system, ensuring the safety and security of the building
• Respond to any phone calls, emails, and voicemails that come to the front desk
• Process incoming/outgoing mail
• Sell school store items and parking stickers
• Provide clerical or administrative support to other departments as requested
• Be well-versed in the school’s safety and emergency policies
The ideal candidate for this position has the following:
• Minimum high school diploma or GED required
• Strong relationship-building skills; ability to work and connect with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences
• Ability to actively problem solve, use good judgment and stay calm in high stress situations
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to balance multiple responsibilities at a time
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Workspace
• Commitment to social justice and anti-racism
