Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Principal Scientist on the Prime Video CPL team, you will work with multiple teams of scientists and engineers to translate business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables. You will have deep technical expertise in NLP techniques to be used for both content understanding and localization. You will lead ground-breaking research and provide thought leadership to scientists and engineers to invent and implement Generative AI solutions in Prime Video Localization and Studio Technology. You will develop solutions that can also be leveraged by Prime Video partner teams (Personalization, Discovery & Search, Marketing & Advertising, IMDB etc.) and Content Providers including major studios. You will represent Prime Video at internal and external science conferences, and work closely with peers in Retail, Music and AWS to advance state of the art research and science application for Machine Learning and AI, and work with our academic partners to support our in-house talent with direct access to cutting edge research and mentoring.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• PhD in Computer Science/Math or a related field.
• 15 years’ industry/academic experience in building machine learning models.
• Experience building complex, real-time systems involving Computational Linguistics including NLP techniques such as NLU, NLG, multilingual multilabel classifiers, clustering, machine translation and information retrieval.
• Strong familiarity with Gen AI for foundational models and Large Language Models.
• Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications that advance state-of-the art applied science.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Media (Audio and Video) localization experience using a combination of traditional content synthesis and Gen AI techniques.
• Computer Science fundamentals in Computer Vision and DL across modeling, data structures, algorithm design and complexity analysis.
• The ability to Think Big, Dive Deep and Learn & Be Curious in order to provide strategic direction to the Prime Video Content and Studio Technology teams.
• The leadership and interpersonal skills necessary to excel in influence-based roles, with or without direct authority, while working closely with internal and external partners in leading science efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.
• A demonstrated track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects with evolving requirements. Ability to take a project from requirements gathering and design to actual product launch.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $240,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market.
