The Service Technician delivers, maintains and returns home medical equipment and supplies within the customer’s home environment. Responsibilities include: delivery, set-up, pickup, patient and home assessment, patient education and training, maintenance and repair or replacement of the equipment to home care patients within the company's geographic service area. Additional responsibilities ... include oxygen transfilling, regulatory policy knowledge and compliance, vehicle and facility maintenance and customer service.

Equipment and Delivery
• Complete delivery, setup and pickup of equipment, supplemental oxygen products and supplies to home care patients and commercial accounts appropriately as ordered.
• Organize, pick product and load/unload according to “clean/dirty” policies and as prescribed on work order.
• Provide skilled assembly and inspection of equipment as appropriate.
• Appropriately clean and disinfect equipment as required, utilizing the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Tag equipment per policies. Complete failure logs and note items that need repaired according to company procedures.
• Utilize appropriate lifting techniques and tools to prevent injury.
• Place items back in stock on a daily basis and notify company of any reorder needs.
• Manage and complete O2 transfilling: utilize proper tools, ensure records are complete, and transfilling approach meets the guidelines of the Compressed Gas Association, the FDA, OSHA, HAZMAT and accrediting bodies.
• Participate in overtime and on-call activities as directed by management.
Driving and Vehicle Maintenance
• Practice safe driving habits and proper safety precautions.
• Arrange route efficiently and safely with concentrated effort to meet scheduled delivery times. Communicate regularly and as appropriate to all parties.
• Possess and maintain good knowledge of geographic area and road conditions.
• Be proactive with responsibility in maintaining vehicles in proper running order.
• Keep vehicle interior and exterior clean and professional in appearance.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance and documentation, as required, on assigned vehicles.
• Report mechanical irregularities and inspection concerns immediately to appropriate persons, follow through to completion.
Rules and Regulations
• Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
• Be aware of and follow all FDA, OSHA, DOT and HAZMAT regulations, company policies and procedures and safety regulations.
• Treat all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
• Comply with all Hazardous and Infection Control Procedures (including proper PPE-Personal Protective Equipment)
• Maintain separation of dirty and clean equipment in vehicles and the warehouse.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of oxygen safety and basic home safety.
• Know and follow the company’s emergency preparedness and disaster plan and the emergency response time policies and procedures.
Patient Care, Assessment, Education and Customer Service
• Provide patient/client orientation and instruction on the safe and proper use, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and storage of equipment and supplies provided.
• Demonstrate courtesy, sincerity, patience and a genuine concern for the welfare of customers with the understanding that you are THE primary representative of our company.
• Review all written material with customer or their representative. Provide skillful responses and proactively work with customers to solve a variety of problems and concerns.
• Be able to assess and re-assess during every home visit all home safety, accessibility and customer needs or changes in relation to the equipment provided and document and/or report appropriately.
Documentation and Collections
• Complete delivery, exchange, maintenance or pickup paperwork promptly and accurately, gathering the appropriate information, including: patient signatures, dates, equipment manufacturer and serial numbers. Route correct paperwork timely at end of shift to appropriate personnel.
• Comply with all driving regulations regarding accurate, legible and timely documents.
• Properly document payments received from customer, provide the customer with a receipt and protect monies collected per policy.
Warehouse Responsibilities
• Maintain the warehouse area in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Assist in facility maintenance as needed and requested.
• Assist in maintaining proper inventory and consistent stocking of appropriate equipment and supplies.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Position Qualifications:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• At least 21 years old
• Good physical health
• Excellent customer relations, communication and technician skills
• Excellent driving record with valid drivers license (CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements required)
Essential Performance Requirements:
Physical Demands -The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Work of medium physical demand, frequently requiring lifting and caring items weighing up to 225 pounds. Frequent stooping and bending when handling equipment and supplies. Regularly requires sitting, standing or driving vehicles for extended period of time.
• Ability to withstand working in an open environment, where both heat and cold may be extreme.
• Good fine motor dexterity and cognitive ability for driving and command of the senses to a level appropriate for driving and instruction to customers, including vision, hearing and speech.
