Warehouse Supervisor-Customs Exam Station Job Description
Job Summary ... The Customs Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a variety of warehouse activities including supervising the loading and unloading of shipping containers coming into our warehouse that are under the exam process. The supervisor works closely with Customs and Border Patrol to ensure a smooth process. People management responsibilities include training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Open warehouse 15-30 minutes before start time to ensure facility is ready for work day.
Coordinate with office for daily workload
Supervise and assist in daily warehouse duties
Measuring and reporting the effectiveness of the department activities.
Developing, training and maintaining departmental work instructions for all tasks.
Establishing and adjusting work procedures to meet warehouse demands as dictated by exam schedules and work flow.
Interpreting company policies to workers and enforcing safety regulations.
Recommending measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work crew and equipment performance.
Continuously improve warehouse operations using lean management practices.
Teaming with other supervisors/leads to coordinate activities of individual departments and serving internal customers.
Conducts monthly safety meeting and submit meeting minutes and attendance sheet to Human Resources and Operations Manager.
Review warehouse time sheets checking for accuracy and completion of information before turning in to Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
Minimum
Education & Experience: Three to five years of relevant warehouse experience (including 1+ year of previous supervisory experience), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to make calculations such as discounts, freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages.
Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to meet physical requirements including: a variety of standing, sitting and walking throughout the day; regular lifting of up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of 30-40 pounds, occasional climbing of ladders; usage of pallet jacks and forklifts.
Preferred:
Related experience within a customs exam station and fulfillment operations.
