Our Customer Service Representatives provide rental information, answer questions, process request forms and payments, and send out confirmations. Most communication occurs by email or phone.
A great candidate for this position has experience with Customer Service, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. Will be a quick learner, detail-oriented, understand scheduling, be flexible, enjoy a fast paced and ever-changing environment, and work well with database-type computer systems.
This position involves a high degree of public contact as well as clerical work in an automated office environment. Employees receive and answer inquiries from the public by email, telephone, or in person on a wide range of government services, rates, policies, and procedures. Some cash handling and/or collection may be included.
Hybrid schedule may be available, with some days each week remote and some in person at Bellevue City Hall. The typical work hours are up to 28 hours per week, Monday-Friday during the day, but could include occasional evening and/or weekend shifts.
• Provides information to the public or other governmental agencies by email, telephone, or in person; answers inquiries or requests and resolves complaints and problems.
• Evaluates inquires to provide the most useful and appropriate information
• Assists in the dissemination of information concerning the functions and services of various City agencies.
• Explains, in general terms, procedures, office hours, and location of various local, City, and state offices and makes proper referrals to the public.
• Maintains guide references.
• Performs routine general clerical and filing duties.
• May relieve or fill in for employees at other work locations as needed.
• Performs data processing related duties including data entry and retrieval and routine computer terminal operations.
• Works with team on projects to improve customer service
• Runs reports
Supervision Received and Exercised:
• Works under the moderate to general supervision of a Community Services Supervisor.
• No formal supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
• Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
• Knowledge of relevant office equipment, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of City geography and road networks.
• Skill in the operation of telephone equipment.
• Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely with skill in telephone communications.
• Ability to maintain public relations in an effective, tactful, and courteous manner.
• Ability to listen and ascertain the needs of customers; ability to find and communicate accurate information concerning process, policies, and procedures to customers; ability to respond to customers tactfully and courteously
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
• High school diploma or a GED equivalent.
• One or more years of responsible related experience in direct customer service, reception and/or cash handling.
• Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

This is a Part-time, non-exempt, non-union position.
Definition of a Part-time Employee:
• Will clearly average 28 hours per week or less
• NOTE: Will be considered full-time and eligible for medical coverage if hours average 30 hours per week or more over a 12-month measurement period (or 130 hours per month)
