Mill Rock Packaging is excited to start the search for a General Labor – Finishing. This position is located onsite at our Renton, WA facility, reporting to the Finishing Manager.

Your Impact
MRP is searching for passionate and agile problem-solvers who are excited by challenges and the opportunity to build something great with us. As a General Laborer in the Finishing Department, you will be responsible for ensuring glued folding cartons are packed in corrugated cases according to pre-determined specifications. The responsible party should ensure cartons are inspected for defects, and correct counts are packed in the designated cases. They also ensure random carton samples are pulled based on a sampling chart.
A Day In The Life
Key Responsibilities
• Erecting and labeling corrugated cases and identifying each case with appropriate die position and pallet numbers.
• Sorting, housekeeping, flat packing responsibilities, and communicating any quality problems to QA Manager and/or Manufacturing Managers.
• Support manufacturing operations by effectively and safely feeding and/or packing cartons into corrugated cases produced on high-speed gluing machines.
• Regularly inspect cartons during the feeding or packing operations, to ensure product meets customer specifications.
• Secondary functions include labeling cases, manually stacking sealed cases onto pallets, removing wastepaper from die cut pallets, housekeeping, material handling, assisting the Gluing Operator and working as assigned.
This is a full-time, on-site position. Specific shift hours will be agreed upon at hiring, however, changes in manufacturing needs and schedules may necessitate a change to the original agreed upon hours, or the working of additional, overtime hours. Every effort will be made to give advance notice of any permanent changes.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. This position requires repetitive lifting and bending.
• The employee must be able to stand for 8+ hours. The employee must be able to regularly lift/or move 45 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Basic Qualifications
• Communication Skills – Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
• Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standard situations.
• Computer Skills – Basic computer skills are required to read work instructions, record job data, follow work schedule, and communicate via email
Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Paperboard folding carton industry experience.
• Printing experience.
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Flexible, adaptable, and teamwork oriented. Able to perform various tasks throughout the day in a fast-paced work environment; respond to continually changing priorities and coordinate multiple projects.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $18.00/hour to $19.00/hour. Pay is based on a variety of complex factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of robust medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and life insurance benefits.
