WAREHOUSE WORKER
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION ... Under supervision, receives, stores, picks, stocks, and distributes supplies, food and equipment in warehouse delivery trucks for distribution to schools and other locations throughout the District. (Nutrition Services, Main Central School Warehouse).
EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Checks shipments received for accuracy against purchase orders and invoices; conveys shipments to storage area by hand, forklifts, or pallet jacks; stores shipments as prescribed by established procedures; makes appropriate entries on delivery forms, stock records and other related documents; verifies load against supply request; receives and fills supply requests from stock; and assists in taking periodic inventory, cycle counts, and spot audits of inventories.
When Assigned to Nutrition Services:
Assists drivers in delivery of goods, pick up / drop off food or supplies to school sites; receives and stocks perishable foods, general supplies, custodial supplies and equipment; receives and store's inventory and equipment; checks shipments for accuracy against purchase orders and invoices; notifies supervisor of discrepancies; conveys shipments to storage area by hand, hand trucks, forklifts, or pallet jacks; makes appropriate entries on delivery forms, stock records and other related documents. Receives and fills supply requests from inventory within the scope of an established computer inventory program; manually loads items for delivery; verifies load against supply request; operates a District van to deliver run-backs of food/supply items; ensures food is handled in the proper manner during loading, transit, unloading, and storage process; examines and removes spoiled or damaged food items; and rotate stock and monitor inventory in freezers and refrigerators.
When Assigned to Main Central School Warehouse:
Receives shipments delivered by vendors; notifies supervisor of discrepancies; conveys shipments to storage area by hand, hand trucks, forklifts, or pallet jacks; makes appropriate entries on delivery forms; loads items for delivery; hand trucks or drives a forklift or district van to transport small deliveries to and from specific destinations; ensures proper handling of items during the loading, transit, unloading, and storage process; inspects warehouse vans and equipment on a regular basis; identifies needed repairs and notifies supervisor; picks supply orders; and assists in relocating equipment, furniture and musical instruments to and from schools, administrative offices, and off site locations.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education/Experience: Any combination equivalent to education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and experience would be:
• Equivalent to a high school diploma;
AND
• One (1) year of responsible experience driving a delivery route; or related customer service work.
AND
• One (1) year of general warehousing, stock, or inventory control experience;
Knowledge of: Reading and writing in English, basic math; state and local traffic laws and regulations, including defensive driving and emergency procedures; safe lifting and handling principles and practices; and safe food handling principles and practices, as would apply to assigned duties.
Skill at: Move / lift, carry heavy or large objects up to 100 pounds and 50 pounds over-head, performing strenuous physical work; follow verbal or written instructions in English; complete reports and communications via a computer; use appropriate judgment while driving to meet unforeseen circumstances or bad weather conditions; maintain inventory records; operate light auxiliary equipment such as forklift and pallet jacks; accurately pick orders for processing; work under adverse climate conditions in refrigerators and freezers; establish and maintain working relationships with those contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a valid Nevada Driver License, with a driving record acceptable to the District.
Work Environment: The work involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; exposure to contagious diseases or irritant chemicals. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
Physical Demands: The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as 50LB cases of copy paper and ice melt. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average physical ability and dexterity.

Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year. New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position.
Additional Job Information
This is a 40 hour per week, 260 day position.

Eligible Employees who regularly work 27.5 hours per week or more receive full benefits of the district, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, holiday pay, vacation pay, sick leave, life insurance, and insurance premiums for summer months.
Beginning July 1,2023: If you are enrolling in our health insurance plan and submit all proper documentation, you should know that there is no waiting period, your medical, dental, vision and life insurance will become effective on your first contracted work day.
All eligible employees also enjoy no state income tax and no Social Security deductions for most positions working 20 hours per week or more.
New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter and will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting. Non-licensed employees will have $58.50 deduction when their fingerprints are completed every five years. Fingerprint fees are subject to change.
Temporary employees working less than 6 months do not receive benefits.
