Schedule: Monday to Thursday: 5AM to 3:30PM with OT on Friday or Saturday
Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for moving assembled, ready-to-ship products as well as raw materials to production departments within the Burgaw Plant. The Material Handler uses a forklift to safely transport materials and products as well as pallet jacks. The Material Handler also supports the department in packaging, loading, and assembly as department needs require. The Material Handler partners with team members, department leads, and supervisors to establish and maintain an environment where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities.
Essential Duties
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Using a forklift (stand-up) or other powered equipment in a safe manner to transport materials.
• Ensure that the work area has been set up to provide optimum safe work area and workflow. Monitors quality of materials supplied and parts produced & recommends corrections as necessary.
• Responsible for keeping supervisor informed of materials related issues or concerns.
• Inspect powered equipment for operating efficiency. Cleans, performs basic maintenance, and reports any operational concerns to the supervisor.
• Utilize a radio for communication to team members and other powered equipment drivers.
Physical Demands
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate information with/to other employees; frequently stand and walk; use both hands to handle objects, tools and controls; frequently bend and reach into baskets on floor; occasionally stoop; and reach with both arms and hands.
• The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6+ months forklift (stand-up) experience in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to speak, read and write English for both communication and paperwork requirements
