JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Packaging Technician is responsible for Quality Control duties that occur during the clarification and packaging stages of production. This position will be a swing shift position with a 5 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. or 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. schedule with the option for an earlier start time on days production is not running or is ending early. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
• Complete BBT release testing and run/check that AE, alcohol, color, pH, micro, CO2, nitrogen, DO, and filter volumes are correct
• Troubleshoot BBT out of spec results and work with cellar team to correct
• Complete package testing for CO2, TPO, DO, HSO, AE, alcohol, density, pH, bottle fill heights, crimp checks, secure seal testing, seam checks on cans, nitro testing, keg testing and sample collection on our two bottle lines, can line and keg line
• Routine package line walkthrough for physical integrity
• Address and troubleshoot any out of spec results on package lines
• Run Rotech keg on keg lanes
• Manage product holds and retests when applicable
• Data entry into the QC LIMs system
• Pull Micro/Sensory/Analytical samples
• Work safely and always maintain a clean & safe working environment; understand hazards and utilize the appropriate personal protective equipment
• Cleaning and maintenance of QC equipment including; alcolyzer, gehaltometer, hach 6110, c-box, seam check station
• Complete all initial and on-going assigned safety training
• Options to cross train in other lab areas on down production days
• Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Food Sciences or related field or at least two years of prior experience in a production environment
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals pertaining to quality assurance, sensory, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, and biology or food sciences
• Attention to detail, ability to produce accurate, precise and reproducible data
• Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
• Flexibility in shift schedule
• Understanding of scientific principles for quality control and quality assurance
• Ability to perform mathematical and statistical analysis
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to operate in a team environment and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to take initiative, act promptly and be proactive
• Ability to operate and use a PC computer, proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and tools. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color vision.
