Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
• Knows and observes Plant Safety work procedures and rules, Environmental Practices and GMP guidelines.
• Responsible for operating and maintaining sugar consolidation and peripheral equipment in the assigned area according to defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ensures that all safety devices are fully operational on sugar packaging and peripheral equipment in the assigned area.
• Makes minor adjustments and/or repairs including, but not limited to, opening valves, setting guides, or clearing away damaged product or jams.
• Responsible for troubleshooting all problems that occur on machines and requesting mechanical or electrical assistance where needed.
• Replenish palletizing supplies as necessary for continuous operation.
• Recognizes and corrects inefficiencies in the machine.
• Performs quality checks at prescribed intervals to ensure the best quality products are being produced. It is the responsibility of the operator to initiate documentation and provide signature to verify compliance with all required quality checks for the assigned machine.
• Responsible for the cleanliness/Five S of the area assigned.
• Responsible for cleaning, inspection, and lubrication on all machinery within their scope of authority.
• Responsible for all preventive maintenance and cleaning schedules of the equipment per OEM manuals.
• May be required to operate a forklift to move products and supplies around. Must be forklift certified.
• Responsible for ensuring proper pallet count, pallet type, slipsheet application and tier alignment of palletized product being produced.
• Responsible for removing and recording damaged product at the palletizer.

QUALIFICATIONS

• HS Diploma or GED.

• One year of technical school or manufacturing certification
Experience

• Minimum of six-month packaging experience
The following are the preferred qualifications:
• One to two years of palletizer experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The associate frequently is required to climb or balance. The associate is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Hourly Rate: $19.97/per hour

Working Conditions
• While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; extreme cold; and extreme heat. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
