Job Description
• Collects samples according to lab sampling plan or special customer request ... • Completes all necessary quality documentation
• Review all Quality holds and work with departments Leads and Whse QC to disposition holds. Follow-up on “Critical” holds (Finished Goods and or Pkg Material) to assure all affected products have been accounted and isolated.
• Attend Dept. R&R meetings Communicate with Leads and Production Advisors as necessary to discuss any pending quality issues (test, equipment, swabs, air samples and calibration issues).
• Tour the packaging area production floors to monitor for sanitation issues, product leaks and GMP adherence.
• Review all performed Sanitation/CIP documents to assure all SSOP’s have been followed and fully documented.
• Ensure swabbing of fillers is being completed by packaging and report out missing or out of spec results
• Ensure weekly metal detection verification checks are being completed by operators and follow up with packaging leadership on metal detector issues.
• Analyzes data and makes decisions on product quality – works with operations to resolve issues if product is outside of specification
• Performs calibration and verification for all lab equipment
• Monitors equipment performance and develops a proficiency in instrument troubleshooting
• Ships product or retention samples as assigned
• Works effectively in a team environment
• Understands and complies with company Quality/Food Safety and safety requirements
• Recognizes opportunities for continuous improvement and discusses them with the lab supervisor
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Perform Quality audits and monitor Quality and Food Safety conditions.
• Leads the hold evaluation process by coordinating sampling, analysis, reporting, and record keeping
• Makes sure shift is appropriately staffed – review schedule in advance and work out issues with team
• Identifies and addresses training needs – brings training needs to the attention of lab leadership as needed
• Leads shift in prioritizing customer needs and the workload
• Understands critical specification limits in order to assist blending with OOS product or ask leadership for variance
• Assist in complaint investigations where necessary.
• Manage and communicate quality information to Manufacturing personnel and assist in the summarization and interpretation of the this information
• Provide technical assistance and/or training in the areas of quality to Manufacturing personnel.
• Understands business needs and the impact of his/her activities. Can identify and understand the potential impact of alternate approaches.
• Provide expertise and guidance within the organization to promote a quality philosophy
• Review current status of quality compliance in the manufacturing area.
• Determine steps needed to get manufacturing quality system to comply with quality standard.
• Assist manufacturing team efforts to meet the quality standards.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor Degree in Science related field (Biology, Chemistry, Engineering)
• Previous quality experience in a food/beverage manufacturing facility
• Mathematical aptitude and analytical skills
• Computer literacy with Windows, Microsoft office application and other lab software
• Must have the ability to read, write and speak in one-on-one and group settings to communicate complex topics, information and specifications related to food manufacturing, food quality and food regulations
