TITLE: Banquet/Event Server
SUMMARY:Server for Chevy Chase Country Club events. Responsibilities include providing set-ups, breakdowns and food service to the guests at Chevy Chase events and (if 18 years or older) serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Ensures that all programs and services are conducted and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives of the Wheeling Park District and Chevy Chase Country Club. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Two to three years experience.
• Must have Safe Food Handler Certification or able to obtain within 60 days.
• Must have TIPS/Basset certification or able to obtain within 60 days.
• High school diploma desired, but not necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to exercise good judgment and confidentiality.
• Must be a minimum 18 years of age in order to serve alcohol.
• Must have the ability to speak, read and write in basic English.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assists in the set-ups and breakdowns for all banquet/catering functions including the clean-up following the conclusion of all events.
• Assembles prepared food and drinks onto trays and transports trays out to be served.
• Serves the tables. Before leaving the table, checks to see that everything served is satisfactory.
• Periodically checks back to ensure guest satisfaction; replenishing water drink, bread and butter as needed and removes soiled dishes when guest is finished.
• Provides general service and attention to dining area, including keeping furnishings, wait stations and bus stations, clean and organized.
• Provides constant high guest service at all times. Informs supervisor and Chef of guest complaints and/or suggestions as soon as they occur.
• Consistently complies with all state, local, and agency laws/policies regarding the sale and disposition of alcoholic beverages.
• Provides immediate attention to guest upon arrival.
• Collects and interprets all paperwork generated for the banquet/catering function being worked.
• Answer any questions from guests about the function and be able to provide descriptions of the day including the time line of the function and what food and beverage is available and being served.
• Assume other duties as assigned by supervisor.
HOURS: Must be available weekends.
PAY: $18 per hour
BENEFITS: PT Staff have the choice of an Individual Outdoor Pool Membership and Individual Health & Fitness Membership (which includes use of the indoor pool) during the employment period.
Qualifications
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
SAFETY: Conducts all work in a safe manner, including using personal protective equipment and safety devices as required; identifies and reports any real or potential safety hazards.
Ensures participation and compliance with required and optional relevant employee training programs as defined by OSHA and PDRMA.
Collaborates on the development and then implements Emergency Response Plans for assigned areas of responsibility.
Oversees the investigation of critical safety incidents or accidents and develops appropriate response for assigned areas of responsibility.
Anticipates and plans for potential safety issues when planning programs, activities or special events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing of printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
Position involves kneeling, stooping, bending, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. This can occur throughout the day.
This position will alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and with proper lighting, to an outdoors setting with variable climate and lighting.
Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented and with good reasoning skills.
Must be able to adapt to the climate with marked changes in temperature from the heat in the kitchen area to the cold of refrigerated areas.
Must be able to transport oneself throughout the project site including but not limited to the golf course, golf shop, Gable Room, Devonshire and Grand Ballroom.
Must have sufficient mathematical skills to accommodate cashier functions.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances.
Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment, which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.
Must be able to work in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled area sufficient in size to allow freedom of movement to accomplish tasks. May also be exposed to the outdoor elements in an uncontrolled temperature with carried lighting
