Flexco, a leading global manufacturer, is seeking a Picker/Packer, to work second shift (Monday – Friday 2:15 p.m. – 10:45 p.m.) in our air-conditioned facility. The chosen candidate would be responsible for working with a packing machine, as well as hand packing products that have been produced on the floor. Packers at Flexco typically earn a minimum of $19/hour depending on experience.

Purpose: Perform duties to changeover and operate automated packaging machine to assemble folders and hand pack product.
Education Requirements:
• Simple reference use of machine operating procedures, compacker adjustment check list, plate control chart, and preventive maintenance check list, where interpretation is required.
Experience Requirements:
• No previous experience required.
Physical Requirements:
• Moderate physical effort required to handle material, which is equivalent to continuously lifting or moving light weight material or, frequently, average weights.
• Continuous mental and visual attention required to changeover, operate and monitor machine operations and inspect material, involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity.
• Exposure to noise and dust, but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
• Injuries, should they occur, would result in lost time due to loss of finger injuries while changing over and clearing machine jams.
Responsibilities:
• Work from work orders, machine operating procedures, preventive maintenance checklist, and plate control chart:
• Perform new job run changeover, clear machine of previous job run material, check required material availability in computer file and requisition job cartons, lacing and folders, and place leftover excess material in stock.
• Manually fold and stack folders on machine feed unit.
• Load lacing in machine and activate operating controls.
• Set up cartons, load assembled folders in cartons on pallet, tape seal carton flaps, and shrink wrap pallets.
• Maintain glue in glue pot as required.
• Perform scheduled machine maintenance and routine repair duties as required.
• Enter completed job data into computer file.
• Count and pack products, such as pins and fasteners in cartons in specified quantities.
• Check quality of products, verify counts, visually inspect products for defects, and ensure parts and metals are not mixed.
• Ensure proper components and literature are packed in cartons as required.
• Affix label and ensure correct label is used and label is on correctly.
• Seal packages according to specified procedures.
• Use of PPE as required.
