About Job:
We are seeking a full-time CDL-A Independent Contractor (1099) for over the road driving (OTR) throughout the 48 states
Contractor Qualifications:
• All drivers must possess only one valid CDL and current DOT medical card, not expiring in next 90 days. Hotshot Drivers must possess a (Class A) Commercial Driver License.
• Any driver that has had a DWI/DUI conviction or criminal offense in the last 7 years is not eligible.
• All drivers must have possessed their CDL for the past 24 months with a minimum of 24 months verified in the last 36 months operating the same type of vehicle to be insured.
• All drivers must be 25 years old.
• All drivers must accept R & R Express, Inc. in the National Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. The NDAC will release all positive results in the past 3 years.
• If a driver has had an accident(s) in the last 3 years, it will be reviewed by the Underwriter. To assist in the review process, applicant must submit in writing an explanation of such accident along with a copy of the police report.
• All drivers must have a CSA score of less than 50 for the past two (2) years. Drivers with scores from 51 to 99 are evaluated on an individual basis and may be accepted on probation. Drivers with CSA scores of 100 or above are not acceptable.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding how often they are required to rest, maximum miles driven and the like
• Hand-eye coordination, since they must coordinate their hands, legs and eyes to maintain a fast reaction time on the roads
MVR & Past Employment will be reviewed for the following:
• No Major violation in the preceding 36 months
• Three (3) or less violations or maximum of one (1) DOT At-Fault Reportable Accident + 1 violation in the preceding 36 months
• No more than 2 violations in the preceding 12 months
Major violations include but are not limited to:
• Aggravated assault with a motor vehicle
• Conviction of a false statement involving a driver’s license application
• Driving under the influence of or in possession of alcohol and/or drugs (DWI/DUI/OMV)
• Operating a CMV while ill or fatigued.
• Refusing an alcohol/chemical test (implied consent)
• Fleeing or eluding a police officer
• Leaving the scene of an accident (evading responsibility after an accident – hit & run)
• Manslaughter resulting from the operation of a motor vehicle (gross negligence)
• Operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s authority (grand theft)
• Operating a vehicle without a license or while under suspension, revocation, disqualification, or declared Out of Service
• Permitting an unlicensed person to drive
• Racing or speed contest
• Reckless driving
• Using a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony
• Violation of a railroad crossing
• Speeding in excess of 15 mph over the posted limit (subject to underwriter’s discretion)
• Illegal passing of a school bus
• Failure to yield to emergency vehicles
• Violation of hand-held device
