Position Summary
Momentus Capital seeks a mission-driven, detail-oriented Intern to work directly with the Business Operations Manager supporting the Community Solutions team and collaborating with other corporate functions to turn strategy into impact. This remote role offers hands-on exposure to how community development and economic development intersects by strengthening operational efficiencies in programs that expand access to capital and offer training to small businesses and real estate developers who have been historically overlooked by the traditional financial system.
The Community Solutions Operations Intern will support the core operational systems behind grant management, financial systems coordination, and data analysis informing strategic decision making and program effectiveness. This internship offers unique visibility into the inner workings of a wide breadth of nationally scaled, place-based initiatives spanning food systems, real estate development, workforce training, and small business advising with cross-functional coordination with our Legal, Finance, Lending, IT, Data, and Fundraising teams. Ideal for a college or graduate student interested in social impact, nonprofit management, law, finance, data analysis, urban planning, or public policy, this internship provides meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to build practical skills in a mission oriented, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
This is a full-time, temporary position (40 hours/week). This internship can be 3-6 months, with a start date on 06/01/2026.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support the drafting and processing of subgrants and professional service agreements coordinating document acquisition, entity document review, compliance clearance, and approval processes through Salesforce.
- Assist in collecting, maintaining, and analyzing impact and programmatic KPI data to support initiative, divisional, and organization-wide reporting dashboards and funder reporting across platforms including Salesforce, Power BI, and Excel.
- Contribute to team process standardization, automation, and refinement to strengthen efficiency and build scalable, streamlined systems by designing workflows, implementing technology solutions, centralizing directories, and creating SOPs to strengthen the infrastructure behind our programs and community impact.
- Contribute to the coordination of grant disbursements, vendor payments, and budget reconciliation to ensure effective and compliant grant spenddown.
- Provide support across cross-sector initiatives and working groups as aligned with team needs and professional development goals.
Professional Skills, Education and Experience
- Current undergraduate (junior or senior preferred) or graduate student in public administration, nonprofit management, business, finance, economics, data analytics, law, urban planning, public policy, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with a mindset geared toward efficiency and thoughtful process improvement.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat for legal document drafting, formatting, and high-volume processing.
- Analytical mindset with experience collecting, organizing, and interpreting data; comfort working with Excel required.
- Preferred experience working with enterprise data, CRM, grant management, or financial systems, or a strong aptitude for learning new platforms (such as Salesforce, PaperSave, Smartsheets, or Submittable). Training will be provided as needed to support success and proficiency in the role.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating and communicating effectively across cross-functional teams, with optional in-person collaboration with Manager in New York City. East Coast working hours preferred.
The salary range for this position is $20 - $22 an hour, and includes sick leave.
This role is primarily remote with the flexibility to come in office in Detroit, NY and DC.
