The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for performing quality assurance testing services for video game software developed by external clients. This role focuses on identifying defects, verifying fixes, and ensuring that software meets functional, linguistic, and platform requirements prior to release.
Essential Functions
The essential functions listed below are representative of the duties required for this position.
- Execute assigned beta test cases and test plans to evaluate software functionality, performance, and stability.
- Identify, reproduce, and document software defects using established defect-tracking tools and procedures.
- Perform regression testing to confirm the resolution of reported issues.
- Review in-game text, user interfaces, subtitles, and audio for contextual and linguistic correctness.
- Investigate and resolve root causes to enhance QA effectiveness.
- Communicate test results clearly and professionally to QA Leads and project stakeholders.
- Follow company quality standards, client requirements, and platform compliance guidelines.
- Manage assigned workload to meet project timelines and quality expectations.
Non-Essential Functions
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Provide feedback on testing processes and tools.
- Support additional QA tasks assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Facilitating clear and effective communication within QA processes.
- Ability to document findings clearly and accurately.
- Basic familiarity with video games and interactive software.
- Clear understanding of game development processes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail for extended periods.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in software testing or game quality assurance preferred but not required.
- Experience with quality assurance testing is preferred.
Tools and Technology
- Ability to use standard office equipment and computer systems.
- Ability to learn and use defect-tracking and test Jira and Testrail software.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and game controllers.
- Ability to visually review on-screen content, including text and graphics.
- Ability to communicate information verbally and in writing.
- Ability to concentrate and perform repetitive tasks with consistency.
