The Clerk position will support the Philadelphia Virtual Academy Middle School program in person and virtually (Hybrid Schedule). This position communicates with students and parents to help them understand the program and maneuver through the PVA system.

Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate and Host Virtual Academic Support:
Serve as the primary Zoom host where you welcome students into the virtual environment, maintain a positive and orderly atmosphere, and ensure smooth operations during all scheduled support sessions.
Manage Student Flow and Support Access:
Monitor and direct students to designated breakout rooms based on their specific needs, including Intervention Services, Academic Support, and Special Education Support. Maintain clear records of student participation and engagement.
Provide Professional and Nurturing Support:
Consistently present yourself in a professional, approachable, and supportive manner when interacting with students, parents, teachers, and staff. Foster a welcoming environment that encourages students to seek assistance and remain engaged in their learning.
Assist with Communication and Engagement:
Collaborate closely with the Student Support Liaison and Student Advisors to communicate information about student orientation, re-engagement initiatives, and any emerging concerns. Proactively support outreach efforts to students who require additional encouragement to participate.
Oversee Student Participation:
Supervise students in the Virtual Academic Support Room to ensure they receive appropriate academic help. Connect students with teachers, tutors, or other resources as needed to address academic challenges.
Perform Clerical and Administrative Tasks:
Support the daily operations of the Virtual Academic Support Room by maintaining accurate records, completing data entry, and performing other clerical duties as assigned. Ensure the virtual office remains organized and responsive to student and staff needs.
Summary:
Location: Hybrid - Remote & The Ferguson School Building (2000 N 7th St Phila, PA 19122)
Schedule: 8:00-4:00
Duration: 10 month, on-going position
Pay Rate: $19.40 per hour
*Must reside in PA for clearance purposes
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:
- Knowledge of web-based programs and apps
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written)
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to adapt to organizational, system and developmental changes with assistance from supervisor and/or colleagues
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in an administrative/clerical role preferred
- Experience troubleshooting computer- and technology-related issues preferred
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
