Overview / Job Summary:
NexStep is seeking a dedicated GED Virtual Adjunct Instructor to provide engaging, high-quality instruction in math and language arts to adult learners preparing for the GED exam. The ideal candidate will inspire and support students in achieving their educational, personal, and professional goals through innovative virtual teaching methods.
This position requires 6 hours per week, including one scheduled 2–3-hour webinar per week via Google Meet. The remaining 3–4 hours per week will be used for posting assignments, grading, and providing feedback to students.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
- Teach math, language arts, and related coursework to prepare adult learners for the GED exam.
- Incorporate evidence-based teaching strategies, including differentiated instruction, small-group learning, and problem-solving approaches.
- Foster a positive, inclusive virtual learning environment that respects cultural diversity and supports adult learners.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, retention, and testing data.
- Provide timely feedback and communicate effectively with students to support ongoing learning and engagement.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, or Math.
- A bachelor’s degree in another field plus relevant teaching experience may substitute for an education degree.
- Experience teaching in a virtual environment using platforms such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Whiteboard.
- Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and cultural diversity.
- Must have reliable Wi-Fi and maintain a professional, distraction-free workspace dedicated to remote instruction.
- Must pass a background check, reside in the greater Wichita-metro area, and hold a valid Kansas driver’s license.
