We’re looking for a full-stack engineer who’s most excited about backend systems, data modeling, and infrastructure. You’ll join a small, collaborative team that builds the technology behind Drug Hunter’s platform.
This role is mostly remote, but our team gets together periodically in person to plan, collaborate, and build together. We’re a small group, so everyone wears multiple hats and contributes where the need is greatest. That said, your focus will be on backend-related projects such as APIs, data integrations, and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop APIs and backend services (NestJS/Node.js, Python)
- Implement and maintain data models and integrations between systems
- Build and manage background job queues (BullMQ, Redis)
- Work across the stack when needed (e.g. connect backend APIs to front-end apps)
- Set up and maintain development and QA environments across the stack
- Deploy and operate services in Docker and Kubernetes
- Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability
- Automate workflows and infrastructure tasks (Python, Bash)
- Collaborate on architecture for scalable, maintainable backend systems
- Strong experience with modern backend frameworks (NestJS or similar)
- Solid understanding of API design and data modeling
- Comfortable in Linux server environments and with containerization
- Experience with relational databases (postgres)
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficient with JavaScript/TypeScript and some front-end exposure (React, Next.js, etc.)
- Strong Python scripting skills for automation and data tasks
- Understanding of environment management (dev, QA, prod)

- Experience with distributed systems, queues, and caching
- CI/CD pipeline experience
- Cloud platform familiarity (AWS, GCP, DigitalOcean)
- ETL or data pipeline experience
