We are currently seeking a Frontend Engineer to push forward our work to deliver the signals from our plants to farmers. This key role would be accountable for ensuring that the software that our customers and partners use to interact with our product is intuitive, performant, and usable across the various devices present on the modern farm.
Responsibilities
- Build and refine frontend interfaces our customers will use to interact with our flagship product, CropVoice.
- Design and implement customer data visualizations for internal stakeholders.
- Automate key customer interaction points, including transactional communications.
- Land in the frontend and expand to full stack, taking a holistic approach to systems design.
Skills Summary
- JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (e.g. Svelte)
- Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design principles
- Experience with common development tools and services, such as version control software, package managers, and CI/CD pipelines
- Bonus software skills : at least some experience with Python-based ORMs and REST API frameworks; familiarity with map frameworks (e.g. Leaflet, Mapbox) for spatial data visualization; exposure to cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, GCP) and containerization
- Interpersonal: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to contribute to a healthy engineering culture as well as relay technical concepts to non-engineers
Education, Experience, and Attributes
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- At least one year of experience building software, with a focus on frontend components
- Long term mindset and outlook toward building maintainable systems
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn about remote sensing, plant biology, and the global food system
- Desire to learn and grow toward backend/full stack development
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
The US annual compensation range for this position is $91,000 to $133,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
