Medical Records Clerk (Part time - Remote)

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to manage third-party records requests and subpoenas with accuracy and discretion. This part-time, entry-level position plays a key role in ensuring the prompt and confidential handling of medical records in full compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Training
- Attend and complete all required trainings as assigned by manager
- On-the-job training.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and respond to third-party records requests and subpoenas in a timely manner.
- Retrieve medical records from electronic health records and collaborate with treatment-center staff to access paper charts when necessary.
- Ensure the accurate submission of records to requesting parties within designated timeframes.
- Coordinate subpoena responses in partnership with the legal team, ensuring all procedures are followed.
- Uphold confidentiality standards and ensure the proper handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Address basic inquiries and issues related to records management, escalating more complex matters to senior staff as needed.
- Develop and maintain a foundational understanding of relevant regulations and best practices in medical records management, with a preference for candidates who possess a basic understanding of HIPAA rules.

- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulatory bodies.

Minimum Requirements
- Basic knowledge of medical records management and confidentiality regulations, including HIPAA.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
