The Adjustment Clerk is responsible for performing accounting and bookkeeping functions and researching payment discrepancies. Specifically adjusting payment records when posting errors, keying errors, encoding errors, or dishonored instruments and banking discrepancies occur.
Other duties, as assigned
Key Functions/Basic Duties:
- Initiate and document banking & case adjustments in accordance with operating procedures
- Researches and responds to all payment related inquiries by email or phone with a high level of quality
- Works Derogatory and ACH Returned Debit Files in accordance with operating procedures
- Sends Notices requesting payment replacements to remitters of dishonored instruments
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures for preparing prosecution packets
Required Skills:
- Must be able to plan and organize work
- Must be detail oriented and capable of identifying errors
- Ability to interpret, apply and analyze accounting principles, procedures, and regulations pertaining to accounting procedures and policy
- Ability to collect, research, and analyze data
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to apply interpersonal skills, using tact, patience, and courtesy
- Posses the ability to work as team member, but also independently at times with limited direction
- Work successfully in a fast-paced environment on multiple project priorities
- Ability to work flexible schedules and overtime hours, as necessary to meet deadlines and strict schedules
- Knowledge of customer service techniques and skills in the area of service delivery
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years prior experience in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, customer service or other related fields
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work
Language Skills:
- Must be fluent in English
Computer Skills:
- Must be proficient in data entry skills including keyboard, mouse, and 10-key pad and have experience and knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Windows products
Pay Rate: $15.35 an hour
Set schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am CST - 4:00pm CST: No weekends!
