We are issuing this Call for CVs for qualified Language Instructors under an anticipated contract with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Foreign Personnel Unit, Foreign Training and Language Program (OFSP-B). Language Instructors will be based in the Continental United States (CONUS) and will be expected to appear in person at training sites as needed. The position description below details the anticipated duties and qualifications of the position, contingent upon contract award. The responsibilities of the Language Instructor are as follows:
- Conduct language trainings in all 50 states, US territories, commonwealths, and all major domestic metropolitan areas in close proximity to DEA offices in one or more of the following languages: Arabic (Modern Standard Arabic and all dialects), Bulgarian, Burmese, Chinese Mandarin, Continental Portuguese, Dutch, French, French-Creole, Greek, German, Indonesian, Italian, Khmer, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Thai, or Ukrainian.
- Develop targeted law enforcement curricula and materials necessary to deliver trainings as well as necessary assessment tools to test personnel language competency per the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) language proficiency scale.
- Utilize adult learning principles and experiential learning methodologies to engage participants.
- Incorporate educational technology and blended learning techniques, including Zoom for Government, Adobe Connect, and AI-supported instructional tools.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of learners and adjust instructional techniques to meet course objectives.
- Engage in project-based learning teams, participate in after-action reviews, and contribute to continuous curriculum improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as training and assessment, leadership training, organizational leadership, foreign language instruction.
- Knowledge of and prior experience in teaching and instruction of foreign languages, particularly in 1 on 1 teaching settings.
- Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with senior officials and diverse audiences.
- Leadership experience in mentoring and coaching.
- Proficiency in writing and speaking the English language as well as at least one of the following languages: Arabic (Modern Standard Arabic and all dialects), Bulgarian, Burmese, Chinese Mandarin, Continental Portuguese, Dutch, French, French-Creole, Greek, German, Indonesian, Italian, Khmer, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Thai, or Ukrainian.
