We are seeking a motivated and talented SQL/Power BI Developer II to join our IT department. In this role, you will collaborate with an experienced team of SQL Developers and contribute to developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions. This position is considered ‘primarily remote’, meaning you will work from home most of the time; however, you must be able to work on-site and attend in-person group meetings occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Perform analysis, technical design, coding, testing, and implementation of data warehouse, data mart, and reporting applications.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex database applications using Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and higher.
- Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards for actionable insights.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy by performing thorough testing and validation.
- Document processes, data models, and best practices for reporting solutions.
- Perform code reviews and provide feedback to team members.
- Maintain and support production systems as assigned.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in SQL development, including query optimization and database design.
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional design, star schema models, and time-variant data.
- Experience with SQL partitioning and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Familiarity with Power BI for report and dashboard creation.
- Experience with performance tuning of database applications, including indexing.
- Ability to communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with SSIS packages for data export and import and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
- Exposure to programming with an object-oriented language such as C#.
- Property and Casualty Insurance or Financial Services knowledge preferred.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies.
