Role Overview
As a Lead Software Developer, you will lead critical software development projects that are integral to Xplore’s satellite operations and data platform, Major Tom. This position demands not only advanced technical skills but also visionary leadership to drive the strategic direction of our software architecture and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
• Architectural Leadership: Architect and refine robust, scalable systems for real-time satellite data processing and tasking, ensuring systems are future-proof and aligned with the latest technological advancements.
• Hands-On Technical Development: You’re a builder, not just an advisor. In this role, you’ll take full ownership of developing large-scale, resilient services for satellite tasking, automated data pipelines for image processing and customer order fulfillment, and a robust, searchable Spatio Temporal Asset Catalog (STAC) database. You'll design and implement scalable architectures, optimize system performance, and ensure seamless integration of our software stack to enhance satellite operations and data accessibility.
• Innovation and Research: Stay ahead of the curve by researching and implementing cutting-edge technologies that can be integrated into the existing tech stack to keep Xplore at the technological forefront of the internet and space industry.
• Mentorship and Team Leadership: Cultivate a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the team by mentoring junior developers and engineers, providing guidance and career development opportunities.
What We Need You to Bring
• Availability to work In-Person 5 Days/week in the Xplore, Bellevue, WA office.
• Expertise in Key Technologies: Extensive demonstrated experience with AWS, particularly in leveraging its capabilities for high-throughput, real-time data services; confluent cloud; proficient in Ruby on Rails, Node.js, and Rust, with a strong understanding of front-end frameworks like React.
• System Design Acumen: Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing complex software systems that are scalable, resilient, and maintainable.
• Proven Track Record: At least 7 years of software development experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role within a technology-driven organization.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional capability to solve complex software and system design challenges with innovative solutions.
• Educational Requirement: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace, Data Science, or a related technical field. A Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
• Must be a current U.S. Citizen or current lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $160K-$180K

The company offers an equity incentive plan for qualified full-time employees.
Health Care Plan
Employees (and their families) can be covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. The HSA qualified plan is for full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week.
Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
Full time employees earn PTO at a rate of 1.33 days per month. There are a minimum of 13 paid holidays each year for full-time employees.
