Responsibilities:
- Review daily delinquency and repossession queue and follow-up on accounts by telephone, electronic, and written correspondence. Contact co-makers, co-borrowers and guarantors.
- Actively listen and retain information from members calling in to discuss payment arrangements & hardships as well as help with filing insurance or GAP claims and any other requests for assistance.
- Evaluate possible losses and collateral values to determine and recommend action such as modification, repossession, writ of replevin, legal judgment, charge off, insurance/warranty claim, payment plan, settlement, or other applicable solution to mitigate loss on accounts.
- Determine and execute best appropriate action for repossession when dealing with impounded collateral, mechanic liens, bankruptcy, a deceased member, or a voluntary surrender.
- Ensure all appropriate actions have been exhausted and legal requirements for state specific documents and/or actions have been satisfied prior to assigning for repossession or legal action.
- Assign accounts with third parties and manage the process of repossession, writ of replevin, legal judgment, and/or collection.
- Manage collection activities to ensure vendors are processing requests in a timely manner and invoices are paid.
- Maintain accurate and punctual record of repossession status and activity in the queue.
- Review, evaluate, and file insurance claims when appropriate.
- Locate, review, and process all ancillary products for prorated refunds and life insurance.
- Evaluate and determine best ROI for repairs prior to remarketing.
- Monitor remarketing to ensure sales are timely.
- Research and find solutions for lien issues. Request repurchases when applicable.
- Manage post-repossession and post-sale processes to ensure proper notices are accurate and sent to the member.
- Prepare reports for repossession, and remarketing performance.
- Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures, including all applicable state and federal collection laws and regulations. Escalate issues after exhausting your resources.
- Keeps up to date on credit union regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains and projects the credit union's professional reputation and privacy of member account information.
Position Requirements:
- This position is Remote.
- Associate's Degree or commensurate experience is Required.
- 1+ years of experience in dealing with insurance claims is Required.
- Working knowledge in Collection and Repossession laws is Required.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to multi-task in a high energy and fast-pace work environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work with minimum supervision.
- Possess strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and listening skills) with members, vendors and co-workers.
