Position Description:
As a Senior Software Developer, you will play a key role in developing and scaling the software that powers our satellite operations, data processing pipelines, and integrations with global ground station networks. You will be responsible for building robust, scalable systems that support satellite tasking, telemetry, data automation, and image processing workflows. You’ll take ownership of complex technical challenges, ensuring high performance, reliability, and efficiency in delivering space-based data solutions.
In-Person 5 Days/week from our Bellevue, WA office.
What You’ll Bring
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace, Data Science, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience in software development, focusing on cloud-native applications, distributed systems, and backend infrastructure.
- Proficiency in AWS and Kubernetes, with hands-on experience in deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications using Kubernetes on AWS ECS (or EKS). Strong foundation in DevOps automation, microservices architectures, real-time data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure, with expertise in Ruby on Rails, Node.js, and React.
- System Architecture Knowledge: Strong background in designing, scaling, and optimizing cloud-based infrastructure, particularly using Kafka (Confluent Cloud), event-driven systems, and high-volume data processing.
- Ownership & Execution: Ability to independently lead development efforts, ship high-quality code, and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to comply with U.S. government regulations.
You’ll Impress Us Even More If You Have
- Deep Ruby on Rails Experience: Expertise in building large-scale applications with RoR.
- Experience in Rust would be great but not mandatory
- Image processing experience
- Astrodynamics, GNC, or physics experience for satellite simulations
The Choice Is Yours: At Xplore, you have the rare opportunity to shape software that connects Xplore to space via our satellites, ground stations, edge compute systems, and the cloud. Be part of our agile team, where your contributions matter, vs. working in role for a large corporation where decisions are out of your hands.
