Job Description
Overview
Under minimal supervision, performs routine and specialized cardiac sonographic procedures. Leads clinical and ancillary cardiac sonography staff.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibility 1: Executes clinical competence in cardiac sonography, across all locations and across all patient types. Selects accurate equipment and technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
Applies knowledge of Sonography principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, physics, positioning and patient care skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
Actively participates, and takes a leadership role, in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality. Participates as a clinical competency evaluator for students and/or a preceptor for employee training and educational activities.
Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, if implemented, at the individual System hospital/location, meeting and maintaining all Program standards and requirements.
Key Responsibility 4: Provides feedback on staff performance, trains and orients cardiac sonography personnel in procedures, equipment, and information systems. Collaborates with department leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate budgetary functions, personnel performance, staff scheduling, and educational activities. Actively participates in coaching/mentoring staff in all aspects of job performance.
