Unit Notes:Unit: L&D, Well-Baby Nursery, Postpartum combined to form one unit # beds: 10 beds Certs: BLS, NRP, advanced fetal monitoring, NCC certified inpatient OB (RNC-OB) ADV FHM Ratios: L&D is usually 1 to 1-2, follow AWHONN guidelines, postpartum is 1 to 4 couplet care EMR: Cerner, Fetal heart monitor is fetal link Charge Nurse: yes, they will take a pt assignment Nurse Aides: no Weekend Requirement: every other Holidays: work into perm staff rotation Scrub Color: navy Tele: phillips Vents: no Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: no neonatologist, hospitalist has to be available 24/7, 4 OB/GYNs and 2 midwives IV Team: no RT 24/7: yes Pharmacy 24/7: no, only in house for 10 hours of the day Shifts: 12 hrs, 7-7, self scheduling to some degree, manager has to balance out and make sure shifts are covered, schedules are made out 30-45 days in advance, they can take call if they want Floating: float to medsurg or CCU rarely & only if desired. Will have to work both L&D & PP on unit Floor specific orientation: 2-3 days
