The Speech Language Therapist SLP will join the family of dedicated nurses and other health care professionals living out a mission to heal people in body, mind and spirit. The Speech Language Therapist SLP will conduct clinical speech and language pathology services including patient evaluation, interpretation of evaluation results and intervention relating to various diagnoses for pediatric, child, adult and geriatric patients. The Speech Language Therapist will accurately assess and treat language/speech and swallowing impairments resulting from neurological insult/disease, developmental disabilities and delays, impaired oral motor abilities or laryngeal functions, dehydration/malnutrition or change in anatomy secondary to trauma or surgery.
The Speech Language Therapist SLP will communicate with physicians and other referral sources, and provides clinical guidance to non-licensed personnel. The Speech Language Therapist SLP will work with various healthcare team members. The Speech Therapist will administer contrast media, under the direct supervision of the attending radiologist, during videofluoroscopy in order to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of swallowing. Individual Therapists are assigned age population as per training.
The ideal candidate for Speech Language Therapist SLP should have five years of active licensed clinical SLP experience is required. Competent in 2- 3 of the following areas: Bedside Swallow Evaluation, Videofluoroscopy, Blue Dye Swallow Evaluation. Current California licensure as an Speech Language Pathologist. BLS Required. Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) through ASHA. Certifications required for specific procedures. Under extenuating circumstances, a grace period of no more than one month will be allowed for ASHA Certification of Clinical Competency renewals.
