The Ortho PA works under the supervision of a surgeon in an Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine practice, responsible for evaluating patients, performing minor procedures, and assisting in the operating room. With a focus on both acute and chronic conditions, the role involves rotating with multiple surgeons and sharing on-call responsibilities. Candidates must have relevant certification and experience, along with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
The Ortho PA practices under the supervising surgeon in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Practice to evaluate patients in the office setting including minor office procedures and injections, first assist in the OR and, in some instances, perform orthopaedic care in the Emergency Department. The PA treats both acute and chronic problems. The scope of problems encountered by the PA is the same as those dealt with by the supervising surgeons in the practice. Working directly 1:1 with a surgeon, Physician Assistants will participate in a four-month rotation as to matriculate through all surgeons and case mixes. First call during the week is shared among all PAs, with surgeons on second call for surgical cases and/or consultations, as needed.
Qualification's Required:
- Certification/degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Two years of PA experience in a primary care practice, or a relevant specialty practice preferred
- Current licensure as a PA-C by the State of Vermont
- Certifications as an adult or family Physician Assistant by a national organization, which is recognized by the Vermont State Board of Medical Practice
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification
- DEA license
