Description of job: Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families, and all care delivery team members.
Qualifications:
- Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
- Minimum of six months of critical care experience in an acute care facility within the last five years required, or successful completion of an approved critical care training course/orientation and standard competencies within six months of hire.
- Preferred: Minimum of one year of RN experience in an intensive care unit specializing in cardiac, neuro, or trauma.
- Required: State-specific nursing license
- Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support
- ACLS is required within a standard grace period, according to the Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements policy.
- Required: NIHSS and TNCC are required within 12 months of the hire/transfer date.
- Preferred: CCRN, CSC, SCRN and TCRN
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
- Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
- Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
- Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
- Participates in developing and maintaining established hospital policies, procedures, and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection prevention programs.
- Management of ventriculostomy, EVD, and ICP.
- Nursing care of patients with non-traumatic ICH, non-traumatic SAH, and seizures.
- Nursing care of patients post tPA, thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, carotid artery stenting, and intracranial stenting.
- Management of blood pressure abnormalities with parenteral vasoactive agents.
- Completion of complex neurological assessments/scales
- Performs other duties as assigned.
