Description of job: Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care through the intra-operative surgery phase. Assists physicians during surgery and procedures by functioning in a circulating role. Participates with other center team members to provide optimal patient care and efficient patient flow, taking into consideration the population-specific needs for patients at all stages of life.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing Required.
- Minimum of 1 year Required: Related experience in a multi-specialty Operating Room, preferably in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
- Required: Completion of an accredited OR training program.
- Required: Registered Nurse in state of practice.
- Required: Basic Life Support for healthcare providers.
- Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Required: Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Responsibilities:
- Performs professional intra-operative nursing care for patients to ensure a caring patient experience.
- Coordinates with other internal or external disciplines that are involved in providing patient care.
- Reviews inventory and stock levels of equipment and supplies before any procedures.
- Ensures patient safety and care through the coordination of surgical technologists and surgeons.
- Ensures patient safety through transportation, transferring, and positioning.
- Assists during patient induction and emergence.
- Completes appropriate medical records documentation and responds to patient requests for care.
- Evaluates outcomes and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary in consultation with other nursing staff and physicians.
- Administers sedation analgesia under the direction of the attending physicians.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
