We are seeking a skilled Critical Care Pediatric Physician for a locum tenens position near High Point, NC. This role is available ASAP and ongoing, with a focus on providing specialized care in a pediatric critical care unit.
Position Overview:
- Position: Critical Care Pediatric Physician
- Location: Near High Point, NC
- Dates: ASAP - Ongoing
- Shift Type: Night Shifts
- Shift Description: Weeknights, 5 PM - 8 AM (night call coverage)
- Schedule: 1 week at a time, Monday to Friday (flexible, not every week)
Job Details:
Facility Type: Hospital-based, 4-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Department Description: Community hospital unit functioning as a step-down unit. Very sick children are transferred to larger centers. No Dialysis or ECMO. Providers will supervise UNC residents rotating to the facility.
Average Daily Census: 1-3 patients, can increase to 5-6 during peak times.
Patient Age Group: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
Procedures:
- Central lines
- Arterial lines
- Mechanical ventilation
- US-guided lines
- Glidescope intubation
- Intubation of pediatric patients
- Lumbar puncture (LP)
- CVP lines
Support Staff: Pediatric residents cover the unit.
Workload: Increase during winter months.
Certification Requirements:
- Board Certification: Critical Care Pediatric (Required)
- State License: North Carolina (Required; must be active)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Preferred)
- PALS (Preferred)
- DEA: Required
- Charting Experience: Epic (Required)
- Experience: No specific years required; however, experience in the listed procedures is preferred.
Additional Information:
- Vaccinations: No mandatory COVID or flu vaccines, but flu vaccination is encouraged during the flu season.
- Flexibility: The facility is open to flexible scheduling options, including consideration for day coverage if desired by the provider.
