Shifts Available: 12-hour shifts.Shift Times: 1830-0700.Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.Typical Orientation Period: One week per unit (2 weeks).

Unit /Location /Floor Designation: Ortho and Oncology Medical Surgical, 4th floor.Level of Care: Medical Surgical.Number of Beds: 58.Patient Population: Adults.RN Ratio (Days): Med-Surg-5 to 1.RN Ratio (Nights): Med-Surg-6 to 1.Nursing Assistant Support: Yes.Charge Nurse: Yes.Hands Free: Yes-availability (hoyer & sit stand).Additional Unit Support Staff: Educators, supervisors, patient companions, Student Nurse techs, Physical and Occupational therapy, Ortho nurse navigator.Common Patient Diagnosis: Orthopedic surgeries (knee, hip, shoulder), Orthopedic injuries, Oncology, Post Surgicals such as hysterectomies, breast reconstruction, plastic surgery, Urological cases and abdominal cases. Behavioral patients awaiting medical clearance.Common Drips / Medications: Heparin gtt, blood products.Specialty Certifications Required: No.Specialty Equipment Available: Code Carts, LUCAS Machines, hoyer lift, Sit and Stand.Unit Challenges: Staffing, Quick turnaround of patients.Staff Required to Float? Yes - to 2 Med-Surg Units and PCU.Patient Experience Challenges / Focus: Post operative patients meeting goals to be ready for discharge home. Lots of patient movement on unit, many discharges and admissions.
Additional Details
ACLS Preferred.BLS required.RN's - Must receive a 90% to pass the Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation.
